How to Join The Italian Cohort

Here are steps to follow if you are unsure how to use Discord and join The Italian Cohort.

  1. Download Discord:

    • Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for "Discord".

    • Alternatively, visit discord.com on a computer and download the desktop app or use the web version.

  2. Create an Account:

    • Open the Discord app or website.

    • Click on "Register" or "Sign Up".

    • Enter your email, choose a username, and set a password. Then, verify your email if prompted.

  3. Join the Server:

    • Look for the button below labeled "The Italian Cohort".

    • Click the button which will directly take you to our Discord server invite.

  4. Accept the Invite:

    • Click "Join" or "Accept Invite" when prompted.

  5. Welcome Process:

    • After joining, you'll be greeted by a welcome message from our community.

    • Look for a channel named "Welcome" to introduce yourself. Share a bit about who you are, how you heard about The Italian Cohort, and what you hope to gain from our community.

    • Once you've introduced yourself, a moderator will grant you access to all other channels in the server.

  6. Familiarize Yourself:

    • Explore the different channels now available to you. They are categorized by topic or function.

    • To send a message, click on a text channel and type in the message box at the bottom.

  7. Voice Channels (optional):

    • For voice communication, click on a voice channel to join. You'll need a microphone if you want to speak.

    • Allow microphone access when prompted by your device.

    • Note: we typically don't use this feature, but we may do so more in the future.

  8. Set Up Notifications:

    • Click on the server name at the top left (desktop) or swipe right (mobile) to access server settings.

    • Go to "Notification Settings" to customize alerts for this server.

  9. Access to the PMc Missions Academia:

    • If you're interested in the Academia course content, go to the designated channel "pmc-academia". 

    • Follow the instructions there to request free access. An admin will then provide you with the necessary information or permissions.

  10. Get Help:

    • If you encounter issues, use the "?" icon in Discord for help or ask in the channel labeled "feedback".
