Learning from Others

One of the beautiful things about Christianity is that everyone has something to offer. Each person plays a different part of the body of Christ; practically speaking, each person has different skills, talents, experiences and spiritual gifts granted by God for the edification (building up) of the church - internal growth and outward growth (reaching the lost).

Here is a quote from Charles Spurgeon that reminded me of the importance of learning from one another.

"It seems odd, that certain men who talk so much of what the Holy Spirit reveals to themselves, should think so little of what he has revealed to others."

We are in great danger when we think we cannot learn from others or when we think that we alone know what's best for the church edification. The Holy Spirit dwells in all true believers. In other words, all true believers are supernatural creations set apart for the purposes of God. To think that we alone hear from God in matters of church planting is simply arrogant. For missions to be practical our view of other believers must be in accordance with the Lord's view of them and of His purposes in edification (both inward and outward). May the Lord help us all!
